Sirius Mead? Yeah! Seriously!
If you have stumbled across this page by accident, you might be asking: “What’s mead?” Well, simply put, mead is a fermented beverage made from an abundance of honey, water, and yeast. Sometimes it is a wine. Sometimes it more closely resembles beer. And still other times it can resemble other drinks entirely like liquor or port. It all depends on how it is made and what ingredients are added to the honey in the production process.
Mead happens to be the oldest known fermented beverage in the world. There are accounts from almost every civilization on the globe that have partaken in this fascinating beverage throughout recorded history. Because of this, there are many stories and historical accounts that make for interesting reading and explain how some of the customs and words we use every day have come into existence, such as the word “honeymoon”. But more on that later…
For now, I just want to say hello, welcome and wassail!
